Account Engagement Handlebars Merge Language

As of June 12, 2020, Account Engagement Handlebars Merge Language (HML) is enabled by default for all new Account Engagement accounts. For accounts not yet using HML, Account Engagement admins can permanently upgrade from the legacy Account Engagement Merge Language (PML) to HML for personalizing marketing assets. This article focuses on the upgrade process. If your account already uses HML, much of this information may not apply. Note that landing pages and forms do not require conversion after enabling HML. To learn more about working with HML, refer to Salesforce Help. Benefits of Account Engagement Handlebars Merge Language Upgrading to HML offers several key benefits: How to Upgrade If your account uses the legacy merge language and you’re an Account Engagement admin, you can upgrade from the dashboard. Look for the upgrade banner, click “Get Started,” and then “Upgrade to HML.” If you don’t see this banner, your account is already using HML, and no further steps are needed. Will You Be Forced to Upgrade? Not yet. Currently, there is no planned date to retire PML. However, upcoming feature enhancements are built on HML. We encourage you to start using HML to take advantage of its benefits. Where Can You Use HML in Account Engagement? HML is available in Account Engagement email templates, list emails, 1:1 emails, dynamic content, user signatures, landing pages, and forms. In Salesforce, HML is available for Engage emails. Will You Lose Functionality if You Upgrade to HML? Most users can upgrade to HML without losing any functionality. However, if you use the Account Engagement API for list emails and 1:1 email sends, check for any necessary changes before upgrading. What Happens to Your PML Assets? Your existing PML content remains in your account, and you can continue to edit it with PML. Dynamic content blocks with PML tags can be used in all new and existing assets. When you copy or use a PML asset, a built-in conversion tool will help you quickly convert all PML tags to HML. How to Convert All Assets to HML After Upgrading Each asset can be converted individually when you’re ready to use it. Click a button to convert, and the system handles the rest. If any issues arise, the conversion tool will indicate what needs attention. Note that landing pages and forms do not need to be converted after upgrading. What Happens When You Create a New Asset After Upgrading? All new assets must use HML, and you’ll only see the HML merge field picker in content editors. What Happens When You Copy a PML Asset After Upgrading? When you copy an asset that supports HML, the conversion tool will prompt you to switch. Active Engagement Studio Programs, Completion Actions, or Automation Rules Using PML Templates Active Engagement Studio programs, completion actions, and automation rules continue to function normally. You can convert your PML templates when you’re ready. Differences Between PML and HML You won’t lose functionality with HML, but there are some differences in format. Learn more about the differences here. Limitations with HML HML has a limit of 200 merge fields and 10 pieces of dynamic content per email or email template. If an asset exceeds these limits, you’ll need to remove some PML tags before converting to HML. Default Merge Values with HML Default fields function differently with HML’s conditional content statements. Conditional HML #if tags within merge fields allow you to specify content to display when a prospect lacks information for that field. If a default value is specified for a field, it will populate instead of the conditional content from the if/else statement. Using Modifiers with HML Modifiers work similarly in HML as in PML, except that modifiers aren’t needed for merge fields contained in links. Link Tracking with HML Link tracking functions the same way in HML as it does in PML. Disabling HML Upgrading to HML is permanent and cannot be undone or disabled once upgraded. Lead assignment plays a pivotal role in ensuring that sales-ready leads are promptly delivered to the right sales representatives, which underscores the significance of automating this process across various Salesforce platforms, from Account Engagement to Sales Cloud and Marketing Cloud to Sales Cloud. The primary goal for marketers is to assign inbound leads in the most efficient manner possible, and Salesforce’s lead assignment features empower us to achieve precisely that. With automation! Whether to queues or designated account representatives, this frees up your time to go back to marketing. If you’ve been manually assigning leads up until now, get ready for a transformative experience. Lead Assignment Automation for Salesforce And for those already leveraging automated lead assignment features in your Salesforce accounts, don’t rush to stop reading just yet. Stay tuned to ensure you’re adhering to best practices and making lead assignment (also known as lead routing) as seamless as possible with this insight from Tectonic. For this insight, we’ll assume you’re using Sales Cloud alongside Account Engagement and/or Marketing Cloud. This involves two essential components to ensure smooth lead assignment: integrating and configuring your Salesforce products to work harmoniously together and setting up Lead Assignment Rules in Salesforce. Part 1 – Configuring Your Salesforce Products Integration The initial crucial step is to establish connectivity between your platforms using the Salesforce Connector for Account Engagement or Marketing Cloud Connect, depending on your usage. Connecting Marketing Cloud Account Engagement and Sales Cloud via the Salesforce Connector is relatively straightforward, enabling the two platforms to communicate and share data seamlessly, eliminating the need for manual data imports and exports by marketers. You’ll find the Salesforce Connector on the AppExchange, and Salesforce provides an implementation guide, which includes pre-installation considerations. Tectonic can assist. Ensure you’re utilizing the V2 Connector; if you’re currently using the connector but haven’t upgraded, make that your first step. Marketing Data Sharing Upon installing the Account Engagement-Salesforce Connector, you’ll encounter ‘Marketing Data Sharing,’ which allows you to control which Leads, Contacts, Opportunities, or custom objects are eligible for syncing from Salesforce to Account Engagement. This feature is ideal for organizations with multiple Business Units and can also benefit those with a single unit. MDS offers greater control over when prospect and lead records are created, contributing to effective lead management. Understanding Sync Behaviors Once your platforms are connected, make time to fully understand how data syncs between them. You can designate either Account Engagement or Salesforce as the ‘master’ values, ensuring consistency in case of discrepancies between the platforms. Additionally, you can opt to use the ‘most recently updated record’ as the standard. This option ensures data is up to date regardless of which platform it was last updated in. For Account Engagement and Sales Cloud, prospects’ records typically sync every two to four minutes, with immediate syncing for most records. However, Account Engagement processes sync queues with over 400 records in batches. Standard batch processing syncs 12,000 records per hour. Certain activities can trigger a sync, which can occur at a prospect, trigger, or system level. We recommend reviewing a comprehensive guide to Account Engagement and Salesforce sync behaviors for newcomers to this topic or to validate your current sync settings for accuracy and error-free operations. Part 2 – Setting Up Lead Assignment Planning Lead Assignment and Criteria Assuming successful integration and syncing of accounts, you’re now poised to plan and implement lead assignment using predefined criteria. Differentiate between implicit and explicit leads based on lead scoring and grading: The perfect sales-ready or marketing qualified lead will meet both explicit and implicit criteria. Therefore, your first task is to collaboratively define and document what constitutes a qualified lead, involving both marketing and sales teams. Only after establishing a clear definition of a sales-ready lead can you proceed to map out who should receive such leads, when, and how. Consider the following: Utilize these considerations to outline more precise criteria: Document your lead assignment plan offline before implementing changes in Salesforce accounts. This aids in gaining a clear understanding of the workflow and allows for validation before modifying settings that could lead to issues later. For that matter you should always document system modifications. Creating a Lead Assignment Rule in Salesforce Navigate to the ‘Marketing’ section in Salesforce and access ‘Lead Assignment Rules.’ Here, you can create a Lead Assignment Rule; note that only one rule can be active at a time. Specify the processing order for each criterion when creating a rule, prioritizing the most important criteria first. Once criteria are entered (ensuring you have necessary data values to match the rule), select the assignment action: To assign a lead to a ‘Queue,’ first create the Queue in Salesforce’s Administration > Users > Queues section. For instance, set up Queues for each region’s sales team with relevant users as members (e.g., ‘Leads – UK’ or ‘Leads – Germany’). Once activated, all leads will be assigned based on the active rule. Consider adding a final criteria to catch all other leads and assign them to a default user or queue for review and manual assignment if needed. Triggering LARs from Account Engagement/Marketing Cloud Lead assignment complexities arise when determining how leads are assigned in Salesforce via Account Engagement or Marketing Cloud. Account Engagement In Account Engagement, formerly Pardot, prospects must have an assigned user to sync with Salesforce initially. However, an assigned user bypasses the Salesforce Lead Assignment Rule. For organizations preferring a Lead Assignment Rule in Salesforce to automate large lead volumes among multiple users, select ‘Assign Prospect Via Salesforce Active Assignment Rule’ within the Completion Actions (for forms, form handlers, custom redirects, emails, and page actions), Automation Rules, or Engagement

Cannot See ‘Edit in Builder’ Button in Account Engagement

When Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement added the Lightning Email Template Builder feature, certain permission set requirements became necessary in order for the feature to be available to your email builders. What do you do if you cannot see ‘Edit in Builder’ Button in Account Engagement? This change came with Salesforce’s Winter ‘21 release. Who: Creating and managing Email Template Builder templates is available to users with the Access Lightning Content Builder or Manage Content Builder permission. Any user that can send an email can use email template builder templates. Note: Email Template Builder isn’t available for previously created Classic and Lightning email templates. ‘Edit in Builder’ Button in Account Engagement Note: Email Template Builder isn’t available for previously created Classic and Lightning email templates. What your missing is the location the templates are and where you can edit them. I had the same problem. Go to your app launcher (the rubics cube top left) and go to view all, then email templates. With Salesforce’s rebranding of Pardot to Marketing Cloud Account Engagement, there has been some confusion between Salesforce account engagement as a platform and account engagement as a score. We aim to provide clarification. The Account Engagement Overview dashboard offers a holistic view of marketing metrics from an account-centric perspective, organizing data by account rather than leads, channels, or products. By default, the dashboard displays information for the top engaged accounts over the last two weeks. What is account engagement? Account engagement refers to how effectively you engage with a specific account as a whole, aiming to build a relationship and secure or retain them as a client. In the realm of social media management, the term “account engagement” is often used to gauge audience interaction via likes, shares, comments, reactions, etc. For example, “Our Facebook account engagement has increased by 10% in the last quarter.” This represents just one aspect of the term. In B2B marketing, an “account” typically denotes a business or organization currently engaged or of interest. Within an account, there may be multiple contacts, such as Marketing Managers and Business Development Managers. Engagement Index The engagement index serves as a metric to monitor engagement levels among application users and website visitors. It incorporates factors like visit information, user actions, key performance indicators (KPIs), and segment data within a specified business cycle. Establishing an Engagement Index This metric is designed to measure the extent of involvement from both site visitors and application users. It considers factors such as visit information, user actions, KPIs, and membership in specific segments, all tracked throughout a defined business cycle. Utilizing the Engagement Index Once configured and synchronized, you can access and review user and account engagement scores in the Personalization interface. Engagement Score Usage After setting up and syncing your engagement score, you can view user and account engagement scores in Personalization. Engagement Score Components Your engagement score comprises key components: Basis for the Engagement Score The engagement score is based on previous visits and decays over time. If a visitor hasn’t visited your site for an entire business cycle, the score decreases. If no visit occurs for two business cycles, the score drops to zero. Account Engagement Score This score reflects the engagement level of an account based on email open rates, clickthroughs, and form submissions. Weighting factors amplify the importance of critical engagement interactions. Using Account Engagement with Salesforce Integrate Account Engagement with Salesforce to streamline sales and marketing efforts. Features like Engagement History, Sales Emails and Alerts, and the Salesforce connector bring data, assets, and actions together. Connecting Account Engagement and Salesforce Set up the Salesforce connector to share data across systems. Track Prospect Engagement in Salesforce Utilize Engagement History to track valuable engagement data within Salesforce. Account Engagement in Lightning Experience Operate sales and marketing side by side on a single platform with the Account Engagement Lightning app. Sales Emails and Alerts Enable marketing to share content with sales reps using Sales Emails and Alerts. Generate Leads with Account Engagement Landing Pages and Forms Leverage Account Engagement to create tailored landing pages and forms for lead generation. What Does “Account Engagement” Actually Mean? The recent renaming of Pardot to Marketing Cloud Account Engagement has sparked discussions about potential confusion between the term “account engagement” as a marketing phrase and its representation in the Salesforce platform. What is Account-Based Marketing (ABM)? Account-Based Marketing (ABM) is akin to account engagement but on a more intense level. ABM focuses on specific high-value target accounts, emphasizing a growth strategy that nurtures relationships with ideal decision makers over an extended period. Salesforce’s Reasoning Salesforce’s decision to rename Pardot to Marketing Cloud Account Engagement was driven by the tool’s primary use for winning business accounts, particularly in longer sales cycles and nurture activities associated with B2B transactions. The platform renaming aligns with the tool’s capability to support high-value, sales team-led products or services, making it a powerful solution for account-based engagement in the evolving landscape of B2B transactions. So the Account Engagement score can be generated based on data from essentially every Salesforce Cloud, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement.
