Search Answers retrieves the most relevant snippets from your data sources, while AI-Generated Search Answers generates tailored responses by leveraging knowledge articles and other sources.

Note:

  • Search Answers supports only English queries and searches English-only knowledge articles or Data Cloud data model object (DMO) fields.

Requirements

Editions

  • Search Answers & AI-Generated Search Answers:
    • Available in Lightning Experience and Salesforce Experience Sites (LWR or Aura) with Lightning Knowledge enabled.
  • AI-Generated Search Answers from Data Cloud sources:
    • Available in Lightning Experience with Lightning Knowledge and Data Cloud enabled.
    • See Data Cloud edition availability for details.

User Permissions

  • To enable Search Answers, users need:
    • Customize Application permission.
  • Before enabling AI-Generated Search Answers from Data Cloud, ensure:
    • Einstein Generative AI is enabled for generative AI features.

Enable Search Answers & AI-Generated Search Answers

  1. Go to Setup → In the Quick Find box, enter Einstein Search → Select Settings.
  2. Select the features you want to enable:

AI-Generated Search Answers from Data Cloud sourcesGenerates answers using up to 5 Data Cloud DMOs as sources.
– Requires disabling Search Answers & AI-Generated Search Answers if already enabled.
  1. Save changes.

Enable AI-Generated Search Answers for Experience Cloud Sites

  1. Navigate to the site workspace → Administration → Preferences.
  2. Select “Allow AI-Generated Search Answers for Knowledge.”
  3. For LWR sites:
    • Ensure the Search Bar and Results Layout component are on the Search page.
    • In Results Layout, set:
      • Result Source: CRM Object
      • Object Included: Knowledge
  4. For Aura sites:
    • Include the Global Search Results component.

Note:

  • AI-Generated Search Answers from Data Cloud sources is not supported in Experience Cloud sites.
  1. Save changes.
