Marketing Cloud Filters

You have the option to define a data filter on the Subscribers tab within Email Studio, where you can choose to segment either a subscriber list or a data extension. When creating a data filter for segmenting a subscriber list, you can utilize various types of information, including profile attributes, preference attributes (excluding HTML email preference), and both created and predefined measures. The selection of these types dictates whether a subscriber satisfies the specified conditions. Marketing Cloud Filters. It’s worth noting that you aren’t required to specify a subscriber list in the filter definition, and you can associate the same data filter with multiple lists by employing different filter activities or groups. Alternatively, if you opt to create a data filter for segmenting a data extension, you utilize the field columns within that data extension to determine whether a record satisfies the conditions. Given that different data extensions may have distinct field columns, you need to specify the data extension when creating the data filter. When crafting a filter, you establish conditions that the system assesses for each subscriber or data extension row to determine qualification for the segment. For each condition, you can choose the profile attribute, field column, or measure to evaluate, specify the operator for comparing values, and define the value for comparison. For instance, segmenting a subscriber list based on the condition that subscribers must be 18 or older means only those meeting this age requirement are added to the segment. Multiple conditions can be grouped using AND or OR operators, and these groupings can further be combined into an outer grouping with additional AND or OR operators. The use of OR operator implies that meeting one or more conditions satisfies the grouping, while the AND operator requires meeting all conditions for grouping satisfaction. The data filter creation interface offers graphical tools for crafting conditions and groupings, with the SQL generated from these graphical tools displayed in the Filter Text section for reference. In the context of Marketing Cloud, a filter is a set of criteria that segments either a subscriber list or a data extension. It enables the application of complex segmentation rules to precisely target messages to specific subscribers. This aids in the creation of more tailored and targeted marketing campaigns. To access the filter activity in Marketing Cloud, you can find it within the Interactions tab on the Filter Activity screen when using interactions in Email Studio. Utilize data filters to segment subscriber lists or data extensions when creating filter activities to enhance the precision of your marketing strategies. In the Salesforce Report Builder, you’ll encounter two distinct types of formulas: Summary Formulas and Row-Level Formulas. Although they may sound similar, they serve different functions. Summary Formulas operate across multiple records, displaying their results at the bottom of a column. Conversely, Row-Level Formulas pertain to a single record and display their results directly on the corresponding row. Let’s dip into examples of both Row-Level and Summary Formulas to understand their applications in Salesforce reports. Example 1: Total Opportunity Amount Suppose your boss requests a report showing the total Opportunity Amount broken down by Country. In this scenario, you wouldn’t require a Summary Formula field. Instead, simply select the Opportunity Amount field and check the SUM checkbox. If you include a grouping based on Country, the report will automatically generate a summary line. Example 2: Average Monthly Case Volume for a Specific Product Now, imagine the support team asks for a report indicating the monthly average of Cases for a specific Product over the past year. Here, you’d utilize a Summary Formula. Ensure the Product field is set as a ‘Group By Row’ field, then select Summary Formula from the Columns drop-down. Create the formula by dividing the Record Count by 12 (the number of months in a year), and assign a column name, such as “Monthly Avg Cases.” Example 3: Checking Field Value Matches For another scenario, let’s say you’re tasked with verifying that at the Case level, the Billing State matches the Shipping State of the associated Account. With Row-Level formulas, you can accomplish this without creating a new field. Add a Row-Level Formula from the Columns drop-down, then create an IF statement comparing the Billing State to the Shipping State, resulting in either 0 (not matching) or 1 (matching). It’s valuable to note some considerations regarding Row-Level formulas, such as the limitation of one Row-Level formula per report and a maximum of five referenced fields. Additionally, Row-Level formulas cannot be used for cross-filters or buckets. Refer to Salesforce documentation for more details on restrictions. What is the Contact Key in Salesforce?

The contact key in Salesforce, also known as a subscriber key, is a unique identifier for a contact in Marketing Cloud MobilePush. Use this value to associate cross-channel addresses and subscriptions for a single contact. You can use the same key for a contact across multiple channels, such as email, SMS, and push messaging. What are contact keys? An immutable object that stores information about a single contact, such as the contact’s first name, phone numbers, and addresses. What is a Salesforce Subscriber key? A subscriber key is a text field that contains a value that uniquely identifies a subscriber in your Marketing Cloud account. A subscriber key is limited to 254 English characters. Avoid using email addresses as subscriber keys. What is the difference between subscriber key and contact key? This key is used to identify a single person across multiple channels inside of Marketing Cloud. In Email Studio, that key is called the “Subscriber Key”. In other channels, such as Mobile Connect or Mobile Push, that value is called “Contact Key”. What is the difference between contacts and subscribers? A subscriber in SFMC primarily represents an individual’s email communication preferences and is associated with email campaigns, while a contact represents a broader customer profile that includes information beyond email, allowing you to engage with customers across various channels. What is the difference between contact ID and contact key? The Contact Key gives you this ability and consistence. Existence of the contact key gives you the consistence of sending messages thru multiple channels and identify your contacts. Email and Text Message channels in our case. Contact ID is a unique number for your contacts in Salesforce Marketing Cloud. What is a subscriber key in Marketing Cloud? A subscriber is a person who has opted to receive communications from your organization. You can track information about subscribers using profile and preference attributes. What is the difference between contact and subscriber in Marketing Cloud? Key Differences: Purpose: Contacts store customer data and facilitate segmentation and personalization efforts. Subscribers represent individuals who have subscribed to receive communications from your organization. Primary key is  a column or set of columns that uniquely identifies the record in the table. When a primary key is defined using multiple columns, the data from each column is used to determine whether a record/row is unique. With the right licenses, Document Generation is available in the Salesforce Industries package. Metering measures resource utilization levels and throttling controls resource access and use based on defined rules. Metering measures the number of server-side documents that are generated by an org hourly and daily. The default hourly and daily limits for processing server-side document generation requests are 1,000 per org and 24,000 per org respectively. Throttling maintains consistency and resilience of the server-side document generation service by managing incoming server-side document generation requests from multiple orgs. Throttling can also prevent service degradation caused by high volume of requests at peak hours by blocking requests that exceed the default limits. The request details are saved in the Document Generation Processes entity. You can retrieve the blocked requests and later retry the server-side document generation. No matter what your specific document generation needs, Tectonic simplifies the process of getting your system up and running seamlessly, whether it’s through Salesforce Quickstarts or comprehensive implementation services. This complete connection covers direct contact with customers, such as sales and service-related operations, forecasting, and the analysis of consumer patterns and behaviors, from the perspective of the company.[4] According to Gartner, the global CRM market size is estimated at $69 billion in 2020.[5][6] Salesforce is a CRM on steroids.
