August 8: Get early access by signing up for a Pre-Release org Admins can sign up for a pre-release Developer Edition environment, which is full of all the Winter ’25 features to explore to your heart’s content. Developer environments are stand-alone environments where you can learn, build, and get comfortable with features and functionality. If you already had a pre-release org for Summer ’24, you can log back into that one. August 14: Review the Release Notes Search the products you use for release updates in the Release Notes section of Salesforce Help. The notes will go live August 14 and we will share the link here. August 29 before 5 p.m. PT: Be sure to refresh your Sandbox Once you’ve explored the pre-release org and reviewed the Release Notes for features that are important to you, it’s time to try out features related to your customizations in your sandbox. This is a great time to evaluate how specific features may be useful or impact the way your organization uses Salesforce. During each release, there is a group of sandboxes slated to remain on the non-preview instance (i.e. the current release) while there is another group of sandboxes that will upgrade to the preview instance. Use the Salesforce Sandbox Preview Guide to determine the plan for your sandbox instance(s). Use the tool where you can search by sandbox instance and then specify what you want to do with your sandbox — stay on the non-preview or move to preview. It will then instruct you to refresh your sandbox to get to the desired instance or inform you that there is no action needed because your sandbox is slated for the desired instance. The Winter ’25 release is available through the pre-release program. On August 30, 2024, Sandboxes will be upgraded, providing your organization with the Winter ’25 release experience. Set Up Your Pay Now Store Quickly and Easily Use the streamlined automated setup to get your Pay Now store up and running effortlessly. The guided process walks you through each step needed to configure your store. This feature is available in Salesforce Payments for Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer editions. How to Set Up: Gain Insight into How User Permissions Are Granted Simplify user management with visibility into the profiles, permission sets, and permission set groups that grant permissions to a user. The User Access Summary now provides detailed information about a user’s assigned object, field, user, and custom permissions. Previously, identifying the source of a user’s permissions required multiple steps, but now you can access this information with just a few clicks. This change applies to Lightning Experience in all editions. How to Use: See How Object Access Is Granted in Object Manager Quickly view the permission sets, permission set groups, and profiles that grant access to an object, along with the level of access provided. The read-only Object Access Summary in Object Manager allows for quick checks during troubleshooting, reviews, or when deciding how to grant user access. LWC, Salesforce’s latest framework, delivers data faster and enables new features for list views. Previously, only custom object list views in sandboxes used LWC. This update applies to Lightning Experience in all editions. How to Use: Configure Record Highlights in Lightning App Builder Enhance your Lightning pages with the new Dynamic Highlights Panel, which lets you configure important fields directly within the Lightning App Builder. Previously, this was only possible through compact layouts in Setup. The Dynamic Highlights Panel can hold up to 12 fields and adjusts responsively to browser size. The form component is also available for Messaging for In-App and Web. These updates apply to Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions, with bot setup available only in Lightning Experience. How to Implement: Enhance Your LWR Site Experience by Curating Data Providers on a Page (Beta) Enhance LWR site pages by adding and configuring data providers in Experience Builder. This feature allows you to access data from different sources, such as Apex or Record data providers, directly within your site page and its components. This change is available in Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer editions for LWR sites accessed through Lightning Experience. A community license is required to use this feature. How to Use: To configure data providers on an LWR Site page in Experience Builder: Enabling or Disabling Modernized Record Experience in Aura Sites You can now use upgraded record components based on Lightning web component technology to see stylistic changes in your Aura sites. These updates, previously limited to sandbox environments, are now available in production environments for the Create Record Form, Record Banner, and Record Detail components. This update is applicable to Aura sites accessed through Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions. When you enable the Use Lightning web components on your record pages in Aura sites setting, the Create Record Form, Record Banner, and Record Detail components display minor style changes. Some key updates include: Daily Summary of Service Appointments Requiring Immediate Attention Boost dispatcher productivity by using Einstein Copilot Field Service actions to get a daily summary of service appointments needing immediate attention, such as those with rule violations, overlaps, SLA risks, or emergencies. Each category in the summary is converted into a filter in the appointment list for quick resolution. Customize the summary to include additional categories. This feature is available in Lightning Experience in the Einstein 1 Field Service Edition with the Field Service Managed Package installed. To use this feature: Assigning Opportunity Splits to Territories Sales teams can now assign opportunity splits and opportunity product splits to territories, enabling them to report on how territories contribute to overall sales. Previously, splits could only be associated with the parent opportunity’s territory. Now, teams can also forecast based on split amounts across territories. Wiz Researchers Warn of Security Flaws in AI Infrastructure Providers AI infrastructure providers like Hugging Face and Replicate are vulnerable to emerging attacks and need to strengthen their defenses to protect sensitive user data, according to Wiz researchers. AI Infrastructure Flaws come from security being an afterthought. During Black Hat USA 2024 on Wednesday, Wiz security experts Hillai Ben-Sasson and Sagi Tzadik presented findings from a year-long study on the security of three major AI infrastructure providers: Hugging Face, Replicate, and SAP AI Core. Their research aimed to assess the security of these platforms and the risks associated with storing valuable data on them, given the increasing targeting of AI platforms by cybercriminals and nation-state actors. Hugging Face, a machine learning platform that allows users to create models and store datasets, was recently targeted in an attack. In June, the platform detected suspicious activity on its Spaces platform, prompting a key and token reset. The researchers demonstrated how they compromised these platforms by uploading malicious models and using container escape techniques to break out of their assigned environments, moving laterally across the service. In an April blog post, Wiz detailed how they compromised Hugging Face, gaining cross-tenant access to other customers’ data and training models. Similar vulnerabilities were later identified in Replicate and SAP AI Core, and these attack techniques were showcased during Wednesday’s session. Prior to Black Hat, Ben-Sasson, Tzadik, and Ami Luttwak, Wiz’s CTO and co-founder, discussed their research. They revealed that in all three cases, they successfully breached Hugging Face, Replicate, and SAP AI Core, accessing millions of confidential AI artifacts, including models, datasets, and proprietary code—intellectual property worth millions of dollars. Luttwak highlighted that many AI service providers rely on containers as barriers between different customers, but warned that these containers can often be bypassed due to misconfigurations. “Containerization is not a secure enough barrier for tenant isolation,” Luttwak stated. After discovering these vulnerabilities, the researchers responsibly disclosed the issues to each service provider. Ben-Sasson praised Hugging Face, Replicate, and SAP for their collaborative and professional responses, and Wiz worked closely with their security teams to resolve the problems. Despite these fixes, Wiz researchers recommended that organizations update their threat models to account for potential data compromises. They also urged AI service providers to enhance their isolation and sandboxing standards to prevent lateral movement by attackers within their platforms. The Risks of Rapid AI Adoption The session also addressed the broader challenges associated with the rapid adoption of AI. The researchers emphasized that security is often an afterthought in the rush to implement AI technologies. “AI security is also infrastructure security,” Luttwak explained, noting that the novelty and complexity of AI often leave security teams ill-prepared to manage the associated risks. Many organizations testing AI models are using unfamiliar tools, often open-source, without fully understanding the security implications. Luttwak warned that these tools are frequently not built with security in mind, putting companies at risk. He stressed the importance of performing thorough security validation on AI models and tools, especially given that even major AI service providers have vulnerabilities. In a related Black Hat session, Chris Wysopal, CTO and co-founder of Veracode, discussed how developers increasingly use large language models for coding but often prioritize functionality over security, leading to concerns like data poisoning and the replication of existing vulnerabilities. Enhanced Efficiency and Data Utilization The new Data Cloud integrates with the Einstein 1 platform, combining unstructured and structured data for rapid analysis by sales, marketing, and customer service teams. This integration significantly enhances the accuracy of Einstein Copilot, Salesforce’s enterprise conversational AI assistant. Internal Design System Architecture Updates Go Live in Summer 24

If you’re an admin of an org with an Experience Cloud site, Lightning pages, or both. Starting in Summer ’24, we’re modifying the design system architecture to support future product innovations. Internal Design System Architecture Updates Go Live in Summer 24. The changes Salesforce are making aren’t visible to most customers. If you customize the visual design of your pages or sites by using supported techniques, they expect these changes to have little to no impact on your customizations. However, if your org customizes Lightning pages or Experience Cloud sites by targeting Salesforce components and CSS styles that change with the architecture updates, some visual regressions are possible. These visual regressions can range from a UI component displaying a slightly different color to layout changes in your UI. For more details, review the SLDS Architecture Updates FAQs below. During the Summer ’24 Release Sandbox Preview on May 10, 2024, work with your site development team or Tectonic to review the user interface. If you notice visual regressions, refer to the SLDS Architecture Updates FAQs to learn how to update the customized CSS and resolve the regressions. Why take this action? If you customized Lightning pages or Experience Cloud sites by using unsupported techniques, visual regressions are possible. Internal Design System Architecture Updates Go Live in Summer 24 Starting with the Summer ‘24 Release, Salesforce is modifying the internal implementations of our Lightning components, Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS) styles, and custom properties to support future UI changes (safe harbor). These internal changes don’t cause visible UI changes for most customers. However, if you’ve used unsupported CSS overrides to customize an Experience Cloud site or Lightning pages, those customizations may lead to undesirable visual changes as we continue to update our architecture.
