Elevate Your Team’s Performance with Slack’s New Work OS Capabilities

After each Dreamforce, once we’ve had some time to recover, we reflect on what made the event stand out as the best yet. For Slack, in our fourth year as a Salesforce company, it was clear we’ve been embraced by the community as the true operating system for work, with new AI agents ready to empower teams and elevate productivity.

What’s New in Slack?

Slack’s mission has always been to simplify work by unifying your people, data, and apps. With the introduction of AI agents and advanced automation tools, Slack is now a comprehensive work OS designed to help you maximize the value of your systems and get work done efficiently.

Here’s a closer look at the new features announced:

  • Agentforce Integration: Agentforce introduces a new way to leverage the trusted data within Salesforce. AI agents in Slack help users work more deeply with their CRM, assisting with everything from sales coaching to resolving support cases—powered by your data. You can even begin building your own Slack app with agent support today.
  • Third-Party AI Agents and Assistants: We’re expanding Slack’s capabilities by integrating third-party AI tools. Available through the Slack Marketplace, these AI-powered applications—like Adobe Express, Cohere, Writer, and more—enable users to generate content, conduct market research, and summarize documents, all within Slack.
  • Enhanced Workflow Builder: Slack’s no-code Workflow Builder now supports conversational prompts, making it even easier to automate tasks. Simply type a command like “Set up a reminder to ask my team for updates every Monday at 9 a.m.,” and Slack will generate a draft workflow for you to refine and publish.
  • Improved Slack AI Search: Slack’s AI-powered search now pulls richer, more relevant answers from messages, documents, and files across your workspace, ensuring faster and more accurate results.

Bringing Salesforce Data to Slack

Slack and Salesforce make a perfect combination for driving productivity. The new Salesforce Channels feature integrates CRM data—such as opportunities, cases, and custom objects—directly into dedicated Slack channels. This allows teams like sales, support, and operations to work seamlessly with customer data without switching between apps.

Salesforce channels ensure that every conversation and decision is tied to a record, helping teams make faster, data-informed decisions. For instance, account teams can collaborate on complex issues and manage approvals from legal and finance in real-time. Soon, these channels will also be available directly within the Salesforce UI, giving you the flexibility to collaborate wherever you work.

Putting These Features to Work

During a Dreamforce roundtable discussion, customers shared how they’re already using these new capabilities to streamline workflows and enhance automation. Here are a few use cases to inspire you to start automating today:

  • Sales Teams: With Agentforce Sales Coach, sales teams can conduct autonomous role plays within the context of a deal. The AI agent offers personalized feedback, helping sellers improve their skills and win rates. Teams can track progress and set action items via Slack lists for continuous improvement.
  • Support Teams: Customer support agents are resolving cases faster by using Salesforce channels to access customer information and team discussions in one place. AI-generated summaries and action plans help agents stay focused on problem-solving, reducing the time spent searching for information and leading to quicker response times and higher customer satisfaction.

These innovations are just the beginning. By integrating AI and automation into Slack, teams are empowered to work more efficiently, focusing on high-value activities that drive business results.

Connecting with the Community

One of the highlights of Dreamforce was the opportunity to connect with the Slack Community in person. With over half of all our Slack Community Leaders in attendance, it was the largest gathering of Slack leaders at any Salesforce event. The community got new gear to highlight their role as leaders and engaged with Slack executives to discuss the platform’s future and how our leadership is shaping its growth. It was incredible to see the energy and enthusiasm of the Slack Community in person, receiving the recognition it truly deserves from the Salesforce ecosystem.

The new features unveiled at Dreamforce 2024 highlight how Slack and Salesforce are helping organizations work smarter, not harder. With these capabilities, teams can accelerate their performance and deliver better outcomes.
